Water-saving garden

Growing a Greener Future and Helping to Reduce Flooding: Our Rain Garden Project

On Tuesday, children across our academy got their hands dirty for a fantastic cause! Partnering with Anglian Water, our children helped plant a brand-new rain garden at the front of the academy. The rain garden is more than just a beautiful addition to our outdoor space—it’s a smart and sustainable way to manage rainwater. By choosing plants specially selected to thrive in wet conditions, the garden helps to soak up rainwater, reducing the amount flowing into the sewage system. This simple yet effective idea plays a big part in preventing local flooding. From digging and planting to learning about how rain gardens work, the children were excited to get involved—and it shows in the photos we’ve included! This hands-on experience not only gave our children a chance to make a difference but also taught them about the importance of working with nature to solve environmental challenges. Next time you walk along the front of the academy please stop and admire their hard work and the new garden taking root! Let’s celebrate this step toward a greener, flood-free future!
